Nominated 3 Posts

These are the three post that I have nominated:

* The Ultimate Bowl Cut Week

* Join Cue Fm 87.8

* New functions added to blog

Meta Post

The content in my blog is exactly what I designed it to be like. This is actually a 'Get to know Vasili' blog. Throughout the unit I have been posting weekly about the lectures and tutorials. As this was a vital part of our blog assessment. This process of blogging weekly improved my skills about this unit and helped me grasp a better understanding. The main criteria my blog focuses on 'RnB' music, Greek music, Radio presenting tips and a insight of my daily life.

The audience of my blog were close friends of mine that constantly log onto my blog to check out the new music and especially how outrageous and out there my life was. I would say there was constant traffic flow on my blog as a lot of my friends found out about this assignment and they knew my blog would be interesting as I would always mention it to them, or comment that I talked about them. Although a lot of them didn't become a follower.

Throughout the process of creating the blog, I discovered new tools and functions that helped the viewers to my blog. These functions included:

* Song of the week- Keep users updated with the latest RnB songs.
* Video juke box- Enabled user’s t0 view RnB music videos, new and old.
* ITunes top 10- Helped the users keep updated on their music.
* Greek music- Keep all users updated with the latest Greek music.
* Music CD search- Makes searching for CD's easier.
* Find Radio Stations- Enable users to discover new radio stations
* What Vasili likes- A easy way to get to know me better
* Google Music search- Helps user to search for their desired music
* Lyric Search- Enables the user to discover the song title, by typing the lyrics on the search bar.

All these elements contributed to discovering music. As I want to be a radio presenter when I am older, this blog allowed me to achieve my goal as I am now a part of the CUE fm radio 87.8. I received numerous amounts of positive feedback about this blog, as a lot of people thanked me for them being able to keep up to date with the latest music. Networked media is effective unit as it allowed me to create this blog. I discovered a lot of useful information and has allowed me to adapt this skills in the future. I will also keep my blog going, as it is fun tool and I have enjoyed every moment of it.

New FUNCTIONS added to BLOG

Yes I have added some new functions to my blog, now everyone can explore their favourite type of music genre. I added a Video jukebox, so now you are able to view different music videos when ever you want. There are heaps of videos and guaranteed you will find something you know. Although the videos I have displayed are of new RnB music videos, because it's my favourite type of music. I also added radio player, where you select a station and it will allow your to listen via the internet. These are the two main functions I added to my blog to make it easier for people listen to music, literally it is at your finger tips now the rest is up to you. I hope you enjoy the new functions I added, I sure am playing around with them because I am discovering new music that may soon make it my song of the week. Don't worry im constantly searching for new functions to add to my blog, which means come back or you will miss out!

Quiz next week.....

Well there is a networked media quiz next week. This should be alright as I have attended most lectures. I have also been posting about the lectures I attended, this means I can go back and revise for the quiz. It shouldn't be difficult there are only 10 questions we need to answer so there will be a lot of time to think of an answer to write. I wish everyone good luck with studying and their assignments.

Production Project B

I have finally chosen what I'll be doing for this assignment. I have decided to build a data visualisation. I have collected information over the past week, and now I am putting it all together. I am trying to make it creative and interesting as I can, which shouldn't be to hard because the information even shocked me. Throughout this week I should be constructing different graphs and thinking to myself why I decided to base all my information around these topics.

12/10/2008- Song of the week- "Whatever you like"- T.I

Song of the week was a easy song to get into. When I first heard this song ages ago I didn't like it, although overtime and consistantly hearing it, the song grew on me and made it to song of the week. I hope you all enjoy it and if you don't keep listening to it and your feelings towards this song may change.

I have to get myself imotivated to do them, which is a hard process but if I get them done as soon as possible I guess I'll have more free time to do what ever I want. My social life will decrease, but It's worth it as holidays are in a few weeks. Then I can relax and do what ever I want when ever I want... YEAH!!!!!

APPLE DIET- DAY THREE!

Today was such a suprise to me, didn't see it coming at all. I had to work this morning at 10am. I didn't eat any delicious apples as I chose to sleep in rather than waste my time peeling and cutting apples lol. I got to work and had to reset the room. There was about 45 tables that I needed to pack up and about 200 chairs. Yeah, not eating any apples in the morning was actually a bad idea, ohhh boy did I feel the pain! I worked flat out till 1pm until I had to open up the Kafeneio located in the Hellenic Club. Once I got there my energy levels were soo low and I began to feel sick. Yeah filling in the gaps from what I am about to tell next shouldn't be that hard to guess lol. Ok I began to vomit constantly lol it's funny now looking back, but at the time it wasn't, the reason for this was because I didn't eat any apples in the morning for energy or put any food into my body. Now I feel fine haven't been vomiting all day, thank god lol. Doing this apple diet is good. I have done this detox diet a numerous of times, although only felt sick because I didn't eat enough apples. For all you that want to try this detox diet make sure you eat MINIMUM 10 APPLES!, and you'll be fine!

APPLE DIET- DAY TWO!

Today was interesting. I thought I would be moody and angry, but really suffered none of the above. Yeah I was starving but after eating 6 apples it soon healed my cravings. I'm pretty sure if you ate 6 apples you would feel the same. I had to work as well which was a bummer because I was tired. Eating apples doesn't give you a lot of energy, the energy lasts for a few minutes then your back to starving lol. Moving tables at work was a different story, I had to take pit stops from one room to another. When I got home I went straight to bed to savor my energy for another big day.

APPLE DETOX DIET- DAY ONE!

Yes I have decided to do the APPLE DETOX DIET again. This is literally like hell, with no exaggerations. I am only allowed to eat apples for 3 days and drink minimum 2 liters of water. Pretty much I am struggling. Day one began today. I have only eaten 4 apples today and sick of them already, this is not a good sign since I have another 2days to go.. dam! I am constantly complaining about being hungry, incase you don't know I EAT HEAPS!!! literally. It doesn't help when I see other people eat food, my mouth waters but I think to myself mmmmmmmmmm what else would I rather eat than a nice juicy red apple, Yeah this thought lasts for about two seconds then back to my mouth watering lol. I'm so good at judging what apple will be good and tasty. Being on this detox diet you are only allowed to eat 'RED DELICIOUS', not the best kind I know. I hate it when I get a powdery tasting one, I cringe with every mouth full. It's such a pain this diet because I also have to peel the skin off them... man talk about effort. This is the last thing I want to do in the morning before work and university. Tomorrow I can see myself struggling the most as I will be starving. Ill keep you posted on my progress so keep reading I'm sure some interesting things will happen, probably a lot of fights will occur lol.

Week 11 tutorial- "Data Visualisation"

This weeks tut was focused on our assignments. We discussed the different ways you can create your own data visualisation. We viewed a number of sites that had different examples on ways to present the data once collected. I'm still deciding if I am going to create this or create a photographic tour, question 2. I am going to begin brainstorming on these two ideas and which ever one I find more information on I will end up doing. I'll make sure I keep you posted on my progress and which idea question I choose.

Week 11 Lecture- Data Visualisation

The lecture this week was focused on "data visualisation". It was interesting because there are numerous programs you can use to lay out your information. The videos we watched during the lecture was interesting. Especially the 'We Feel Fine' site, we viewed this site and its awesome to see how much information is actually stored and can be discovered. These methods of data visualisation are to help get the message across to various individuals. I actually found this fascinating because I never knew data visualisation could be transformed into something interesting, and something people will go view.

Some more sites of data visualisation are:

Week 10. Writing some HTML

This weeks tutorial was focused on how to write HTML, it was surprisingly fun. It was cool to create a whole web page with only using codes. It got confusing at times because if you wrote the wrong code it wouldn't work on the web page. Although using ice-cream sandwiches as a example wasn't the best idea because when I got home I was actually craving for one. I never knew if I was able to use codes to create a web page, looks like I can now, so watch out I might be the next BILL GATES???lol

Week 10 Lecture: Html and how to do it.

This week lecture was about html (Hyper Text Markup Language) and CSS ( Cascading Style Sheets). We didn't focus much on html for as we have learnt about it in previous classes. The lecture was mainly on CSS. This type of coding that allows you to separate your presentation from your content. Although this type of coding needs to be structured out well to understand. Now I know what your thinking how does CSS work?. Well it allows you to create rules that control the layout of the site. It can be written in two parts the 'Selector' and the 'Declaration'. These help create the layout of the page. The good thing about CSS is that if you make a mistake it allows you easily to fix it.
For examples of been used CSS check out these sites:

Last Weekends ADVENTURES!

Last weekend I was in Sydney for my dad’s godson’s wedding. It was actually fun considering my brother, sister and I all thought we weren't going to have a good time for as we didn't know anyone. When we found out we were on the kids table we all thought great, so much for a good night we'll have to be babysitters for other peoples children. When we got to our seats we met the other guests on the table. Surprisingly they were our age, raging from 18-21. We all got along so well. As for my parents as they met up with people they haven't seen in ages. Luckily the wedding was in the city of Sydney, because us youngins were eager to hit up sum bars or nightclubs. Across the road from the wedding was the Hilton hotel. We decided to go there because it was close. We were all allowed to jump the line and get into this fancy bar. I think we were allowed to jump the line because we were all dressed up to the max! We were only up their for a short time because the wedding finished, but it was a good time for all of us to get to know each other. When we got back we all exchanged numbers so we could keep in touch. This night really blew my mind away. I thought I would have been glued to my chair knowing no one with random oldies coming up to me that knew me when I was little and I would have had to play along that I could remember them lol. But that all changed I actually had fun

31/8/2008 Third song of the week-"Just Dance"- Lady Gaga

Last week song of the week was "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga. This song rocked my whole week and I hope it did for all of you. Now whenever you are feeling down or not having fun, just remember to:

Just dance, gonna be okay (da-da-doo-doo) Just dance, spin that record babe (da-da-doo-doo) Just dance, gonna be okay (duh-duh-duh) Dance, dance, dance, just ju-ju-just dance.

This is such a catchy chorus been in my head all week!

SMACK DOWN! For Despina Vandi

Well if u havent heard the bad news Despina Vandi the greek singer I was meant to see on the 13th of September, she had a car accident. Pretty much this means her concert will be postponed until the 11th of October. I dunno why she had to change her concert I mean look at her she looks fine, orwel I guess I should see the positive side I can work on my excellent dance moves to win her heart over, who knows maybe she want to end up living in Canberra with me. I bet you are all doubting me now but just wait till you see me walking in the city with Despina Vandi around my arms lol.

Week 6 and 7 Tutorials

These two weeks were focused on our assignments. These tutorials were ideal because you were able to ask questions and get help with anything you needed. I asked quite a few questions because at times even I got confused, but my tutor helped me get back on track and also gave me a few ideas of how I can layout my online exhibition in different and creative ways to make it look more appealing.

THE ULTIMATE BOWL CUT WEEK!!!

Well this weekend was all about BOWL CUTS. It all started during the week when one of our close family mate wasn't feeling all the best, so a group of us went over to cheer him up. The group consisted of Sprio, Gary, Kayla, Peter and I. When we got there we all began talking random stuff, until the topic of haircuts arose. We began talking about different styles such as crew cuts and mullets until we reached the ultimate haircut 'THE BOWL CUT'. We were all talking about how lame they were until one of the guys in the room mentioned that he used to have one when he was little. Ok yeah I bet all of you reading this are probably like dude Vasili this is not funny and doesn't look like it's going anywhere, but let me tell you, you haven't heard the climax of this story yet, so keep reading. Straight after he said that he mentioned that his sister used to have the same bowl haircut and that they used to get called twins as no one could tell them apart. The only way was if one was wearing a bow in there hair lol. After he mentioned that we all lost it in laughter, I lost control in my seat as did everyone else. Tears of laughter hit us all. Even when a hour past and we all got back into the car, literally no one said a word. The loudest raw of laughter emergered as everyone was still laughing about this 'BOWL CUT STORY'. Even as im writing this im laughing but you just cant tell lol. Questions ran amoungst that we will never know such as: Did they use the same bowl? and What were they thinking?

For all of you that don't know what a bowl hair cut is let me explain through this really broken down diagram, i actually didn't know it takes extreme talent to get the excellent bowl curve around the shape of your head, bahahahaha lol.

THE WEEKEND NERD!!

Well I mentioned before in 'My Weekend' post how much of a nerd I was, well I found a picture that probably fits the description of me buckling down and studying. I know crazy Vasili studying shouldn't he be at work, or out with mates. All I can say is embrace it people because its a rare site of NERD VASILI! lol.

Week 6. Lecture- Multiplicity

The lecture this morning was focused on multiplicity of the internet. I learnt about iteration where it is about manipulating something and then taking the result of it and manipulating it again. There was a lot I learnt today in this lecture another area was the wisdom of crowds. There are four main elements in this and they are:
* Diversity
*Independence
*Decentralisation
* Aggregation
a example where these four elements are used are in the website Wikipedia. This website is a open source software where viewers are allowed to adjust or add information.

Different Types of Radio Presenters

There are two main types of radios one is Local radio and the other being Networked radio. An example of networked radio is something like BBC where as local radio is radio broadcast in your town. Most local radio presenters do everything themselves, they sit at a desk with faders, CD players, mini discs, automation play out computer systems and machines playing jingles.

Being a radio presenter is a very insecure job. It take time for you to build up listener loyalty as it can be tough if you make a mistake. If you happen to say something wrong it could cause you to get fired. Although overall its a enjoyable job, playing CD's, making people laugh and constantly talking

To become a good presenter don't try to be clever or cocky, it will only get you disliked and unpopular. Don't be fake or copy anybody else! Just be yourself, keep up to date with current affairs and what is happening in your local area.

My Weekend!

Well my weekend was not as fun. Basically it was doing homework yeah heaps social I know. Really got to know the theorists in the texts books quite well, like we probably progressed to first name basis, who knows might go out one time lol. See what this weekend has done to me made me go crazy. I was also doing my assignments as I am off to Sydney this weekend for a wedding so I guess my social life will improve. I also had to work but that was alright. Last night I worked in a Srilankan function where I was there drink waitor. It started off slow but I got taught how to Bollywood dance and get to know everyone. Ok yeh I couldnt move as good as them but they sure cheered everyone on. They were all soo nice. Today all I did was more assignments I really want to get on top of them all. Whoo feels like I have been a nerd for a weekend got quite a lot done looking back. Dont worry though im tapping into normal Vasili now lol. so none of you will see me as a nerd.

Radio Presenter Tips!

I have been researching helpful tips for all those people who want to become a radio presenter like me. The main factor that helps is reading books, as it improves your reading skills, because being a radio presenter there’s a lot of script reading. Read over toungue twisters weekly as it will help prevent your tongue from getting tongue tied, start easy and slowly work your way up to the more difficult. Remember take your time and don’t rush! If you are really creative maybe you can start writing and recording your own radio shows. Although start off easy and slowly work your way up. If you want to know more information please leave a comment and ill get back to you with more information.

Week 5. Social Media

In todays tutorial we all got to select our favourite website and present why we like it to the class. There were quite a few interesting sites that I will go have another look and explore in my own time. My favourite website was mixmatters.com, this site keeps you up to date with the latest music. RnB music is what the site is mainly about, but it also does include Dance. You can listen to these songs free and if you like them you can download them onto itunes. Some of the songs have been remixed by certain Dj's so they may have a copyright laws on them. Overall you can listen to 90% of the music. The site also includes music film clips which is great because you can even see the film clip of a song before it becomes a hit. So guys check it out and tell me what you think.

Project A

I have chosen to create a online exhibition for my assignment. I have begun starting it and actually it looks good. I have over the past few days been collecting pictures etc to start my collection. I didn't know I had so much stuff on my topic. But dont worry you will all see it soon. Good Luck everyone, hope you are all going good.

Week 4. Tutorial- Social Media

In this tutorial I managed to sign up to Delicious. This was another 3-step process to create it. This is a handy site for when you want to save certain sites. It book marks them into your list so you can go back later to view them. I only managed to add my blog on there and the course outline. I think this is a good start so far because I can only add more as the semester goes on. I also learnt how to add a slideshow to my blog. Actually it wasn’t as hard as I thought, and now I have it up and running you all can see what I get up to.

Week 4. Lecture- Web 2.0

I actually arrived late to this lecture so I missed out on a bit of information. Although I remember learning a bit about web 2.0 last semester in Internet Media and Communications. I didn’t realise how many sites are actually using web 2.0. Surprisingly I knew quite a few of the sites. I have now started to found out that the web 2.0 sites actually have more information on them and less pictures. To sign up to these sites is really easy, usually a 3 step process. I’m actually impressed in how much I learnt in the little time I was there; I guess I will only learn more as the semester goes on.

In this tutorial I was able to sign up to Google reader which was a simple process. I also asked how to load up a 'youtube' video because I was actually struggling to get one up. So if any one else is struggling ill tell you how. Once you have picked your desired video clip highlight the Embedded code and copy it to blogger. Once in blogger and ready to post click on edit Html and paste the Embedded code. Now click on compose and a outline of the video clip should be displayed. Till next tutorial play around with this and tip and ill fill you in with more throughout the weeks.

How Spiro stopped biting his nails. one on one EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW. Nail Bitters check this out!

For all you nail bitters out there here is a EXCLUSIVE ONE TIME ONLY! interview with Spiro.

Vasili-
How did it all start?
Spiro- Since very young, being under huge amounts of stress from brother Gary stealing my toys. It left me with nothing to chew on, so i resulted to my nails.
Vasili- Can you ever forgive your brother for all the traumatised memories?
Spiro- Considering it was so long ago I've already forgotten about all the pain he has caused. But if I could retrace my footsteps I would have eaten his nails instead.
Vasili- What was your treatment?
Spiro- Treatment began 2 weeks ago when friend Peter decided to buy a new phone, and due to boredom we ventured into Big.W where girlfriend Kayla suggested to buy some nail biter treatment has my nails were rotting. But i decided to go on my own free will and go cold turkey. Not even using a patch.
Vasili- How are the nails now?
Spiro- Prettier than ever but still disgusting when I go for that little nibble.
Vasili- How do you prevent that little nibble?
Spiro- I think of you lol but the real key is PERSISTENCE!

Vasili- Well thank you for devoting your time out of your busy schedule Spiro, all the best in the near future for your nails
Spiro- I'm just utterly speechless. (Head in between legs crying)

Carving up the World

This lecture Carving up the world was interesting. The way it was setup for us to learn about what the internet lacks, how it groups certain information together, they way the websites are designed and ontology was actually broken and put into a easier contexts which really help me understand and take notes. I learnt quite a bit and is evident in my book.

Thanos Petrelis ' Mesa Mou'

Lucky me got to see the awsome Greek singer live in Sydney. I would have to say it would have been one of the best nights of my life. 'Mesa Mou' is my favourite song of his. Its a song about him being confused in love. Seeing him perform was amazing. I go soo close to him, within meters. But I think he was intimidated by me cause I am a Hellenic Dancer Teacher and Student, I mean who wouldn't lol. That must be the reason why I didn't get put onto the stage. To get this far I had to go through the mosh pit. Although a Greek mosh pit isn't like a normal mosh pit. Theres room for the guys to get down on the floor and drink a glass of alcohol that is placed by friends. The girls are usually shaking everything they have to impress. Yes I would have to say this was a big night. Next time he comes ill give out details and you can join me.

THE SMASH HIT SONG 'ME & YOU' BY CASSIE

This would have to be my all time favourite song and film clip. I managed to create many amusing memories to this song, starting from back in college even till this very day. When ever this song comes on in a nightclub watch out! LIKE I ATCUALLY MEAN IT! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do so please comment on what you think about it.
